通过改编金大中与影子军师严昌禄的事迹，来阐述目的与手段的关系这一点很取巧。剧情对政治的处理多有理想化，但瑕不掩瑜，人物形象饱满，节奏流畅，加上一票演技派，观感十足，可以说是《南山的部长们》之后韩国最好的政治片

金大中算是韩国总统里唯一善终得了。韩国拍这类型政治片最近十年已经越来越熟练了，基本掌握了该类型片剧本的写法，不过该片不如前面优秀的，中规中矩。终究，还是选了一个总检察官当新总统。。。
