The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 这一段真是让人笑哭了。
马克终于不再拍一些无脑商业大片了，总是有个好的转型开始了，从他的剧中体型变化也能看出来，应该是下了不少功夫，希望越来也好，这个电影的原型斯图尔特．朗好强，真的男人，一生不屈服，进行抗争.......
行 整挺好 一点儿惊喜都没有 大家都挺辛苦的 洗洗睡吧
或許，斯圖爾特一家都有心理問題，通過他成為神父的事情，都消除了心理問題，當然也就沒有什麽掛念了。他們都放下了史蒂芬，活成了自己，也一定和斯圖爾特做神父有關繫，因為他已經放下了，併且說話直指人心，讓基督教徒們更為信服。他實現了自己的救贖，也要救贖別人，驗證神學的偉大，當然，也是他經受命運捉弄之後的一種頓悟吧。

我貌似比较喜欢看马克沃尔伯格的片子，大多数都看过，也大多数都不错。这部有点小众了，讲的也是一个比较悲的故事，女主是《毒枭墨西哥》里面那个女的！！！
本来是给四星的，但少了一个重要环节的揭露，弟弟究竟是怎么死的，变成了最大的疑点。一个神父的养成，也有足够的内容来研究他的心理状态及他一家的关系处理。
电影还行，但这个人物我实在是不能理解。对于女友相当不负责任，以至于后面的传教让人觉得恶心。
我们需要这样的经历才能蜕变，才能做出有益自己的决定。变成上帝派遣我们来到这世界时，期待我们成为的样子。
说实话，主演的表演很到位，把一个痞子气的神父演的活灵活现了。

“我喜欢做拳击手，是因为怎么出招由我定”“我能赢，因为我能发现对手眼里哪怕一丝的恐惧”……从小在父亲的否定母亲的懦弱中成长，斯图尔特先是去打比赛，伤病后再闯荡好莱坞，接着因为一见钟的女孩去探寻信仰，在经历酒驾出车祸的濒死状态后最终成为斯图神父！致敬真人真事。

自信自强不息的一生，屡次被罚出场，屡次拼命争取改变命运。这样咄咄逼人的强势，远远的欣赏还行，附近稍不同道的人，会很难受。
斯图神父 前面看着像古惑仔电梯里的那个神父前传。对福音电影没啥共情，如果有佛教的电影应该也不会太激动吧，因为会对比西游记。马克沃尔伯格演的真好，梅尔吉布森就是打酱油的，可能名气大，最后非落到父子关系上，还不如换个人演爹。女主真不讨喜，还不如导演自己来演呢，这种能让人一见钟情放弃一切的角色颜值必须高。不然谁信啊。
对探险故事没有抵抗力，无论电影还是书籍。很想看原著《两个人对抗霜雪》（电影中如此翻译），搜了一下，找不到这本书，不知道有无引进中文版。
