The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 看着还是纪录片的手法和拍摄方法，画面不那么好看，老头老太太也不讨喜，估计应该是题材还算新颖。

看了开头，因为剧情太慢没看下去。睡前竟然又惦记起来，想知道她怎么克服那些终会将人磨平的荒芜，但是却看到，有的人是不得不选择游牧。人行天地间，忽如远行客。

本片靈感來源於王家衛的《春光乍泄》，然而卻深受泰倫斯馬力克影響，無論在畫面經營，還是創作方式都試圖打造出一種虛構和現實結合的電影境界。趙婷延續《騎士》中個人掙扎和身份認同的命題，呈現人在文明和荒野之間的生存狀態。導演手法淡然平實，相對泰倫斯馬力克的作品無疑更商業化，也充滿了療癒的力量。只是本片在表現社會問題里有點模棱兩可，既要表達社會制度問題，卻把遊牧寫成了個人選擇（放棄安逸只為追求自由），削弱了批判的力量。
