The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 近期最喜欢之一！结尾所有线索串联起来，所有之前的恐怖元素（或许算是）反转时，感觉整个影厅都躁动起来了。也真的吓人，被前排一点没收敛的尖叫吓个半死
这是一部难得的反思战争的上乘之作，不同于好莱坞式的宏大叙事，极具北欧风格，看到最后让人痛彻心扉，所有演员的表演都无可挑剔。反观我们的电影，差距真的是太大了。正值俄乌交战之际，静下心来欣赏这部电影，会让我们对战争有更深刻的认识。
啥都有，就是啥都淡了点，伊桑霍克的奶子不错
期待过高了。诚然电影基调不错，对70年代惊悚氛围的营造，让观众很轻松就进入状态。但故事真的有些拉跨，首先女主的故事线就非常鸡肋，没有帮助男主制服凶手，其作用相当于帮警察擦屁股；而整个警察局的智商甚至不如反派的傻老哥，一个跳到地洞就崴伤脚的反派也是屑。
他一度称呼天空是「我们集体灵魂
整体节奏太快了，其实应该是一部迷你剧的体量。前面蛮好的，后半截就是《唐山大地震》水平。
虽然有点小瑕疵，最后没有交代那个修女钻进去水里后的结果如何，也没有交代那个被淹在水里的小女孩结果如何，但依然不妨碍这是一部好电影

战争是地球的疾病，没有人能永远不得病，你只能寄希望于下次病来得晚点，来得不是那么痛。
就是小孩版密室逃生，但是各种bug，逃生线没做好；然后又加入妹妹通灵，哥哥接鬼电话，也没啥好看的；之后还想用心理困境强行拔高，硬生生想把恐怖片往文艺片上凑，更乱。
好看 很震惊 心中的信仰不容怀疑 战争就是这么残酷和无情
最后一幕的长镜头，我的心随着母亲的表情一同起伏。影后级别的表演。
与其说这部电影是恐怖片，其实我觉得其实偏悬疑吧，恐怖的氛围是有的，但是导演并没有采用视觉上的惊吓，而是先用前面的剧情让观众对两个小主角产生好感，再趁热打铁，让刚被关进地下室的小男主与恶棍斗智斗勇，这么一个可怜的小帅哥被恶棍关到地下室，你会不他的命运揪心吗？导演正是利用这一点，来对观众造成心理上的冲击。不得不说，斯科特导演确实把观众们的心理玩明白了呀，一亿美元的成绩理所应当。不过缺点我也不得不批评。构图差，配乐差，不能给观众带来视觉效果；小女孩的特殊能力影片没给出解答；剧情实在是太快了，有时让人摸不着头脑，虽然剧本非常一般，但小男孩和霍克的表演深深地强化了影片表达效果，小女孩的演技有待加强哦。这种以小孩子为视角的80’恐怖片永远是我的最爱
喜歡是枝大概有一大半是因為喜歡他對生命和家庭的闡述。對，比起在出生後拋棄，在他還沒來到這個世界前打掉他的罪沒有比較輕。#兒童節不要墮胎
在氛围营造与设定上有些《小丑回魂》、《黑洞频率》、《第六感》及《怪奇物语》的味道，在某种程度上亦可以看作是《可爱的骨头》的姊妹篇。彼得·杰克逊玩奇幻、灵异、科幻、恐怖甚至恶趣味番茄酱都很有一套。更何况这个胖子去年拿了个魅力+50/影响+50/士气+50的“终身成就奖”（第19届美国视觉效果协会奖），斯科特·德瑞克森的修炼之路关山迢递，前程远大。最后的反杀太特么畅快了，故事中前前后后所有的小细节在那一刻都给连上了。
印象深刻的有善良的修女，吓坏的男孩，浪子回头的辅警，误杀平民的飞行员。
