The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 全片充斥着碎片化但却温暖的情绪，事业、友情和爱情的不幸在导演的处理下都显得不太冷酷，试镜时的独白，les酒吧里和好友的轻轻一吻，咖啡馆对峙时女孩伴着Ombra Mai Fu落下的泪水，以及山雨欲来前返回家中和父母共享平静的幸福。
