The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The story is kind of cliche love story and I was bored a bit. The fighting scenes are joking, or maybe it's just how people fight and react in that dystopian near-future. But oh God! 迷局使片中每一段爱都经历了深刻到困惑再到质疑，可最终答案是这些爱确实是真真切切的，犯罪情节和悬疑设计不咋地不过整个故事想表达的内涵和结构是统一且完整的，结局更是一次完美的主题自洽，说一个故事，一个有幸福结局的故事，没有结局是幸福的，所有结局都是悲伤的，特别当故事本身很幸福，那就说一个开心的故事，但在中间结束，这，就是爱的本质。
故事有点普通，两小时的片长都让人觉得无聊。太多旁白还是不可取。
事实证明把简单的故事通过叙事手法和结构形式变复杂高端不是谁都能掌握的技巧。故事只值两星，把简单的故事说的枯燥乏味。但是架不住丽贝卡太有魅力和风情，以及休叔丽贝卡吴彦祖三个好身材，忍不住再加一星。晚礼服包裹下露出的女性肌肤太性感了。
