The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 挺不错的合家欢电影~牙套这个东西在美国这么普及啊，涉及到青少年的影视剧几乎都会看到戴的。
陪娃一起看的，故事还好，制作水准也在线。但是现在来看2000左右的年代虎妈有点过时了。现在的虎妈已经可以做到刚柔并济了。当然娃看了还是有共鸣的，跟之前的美国女孩反映一样大。加一颗星吧。
做的很棒
五分给turning red的女性团队，支持女性力量。电影里为什么选择说的广东话而不是中文呢。华裔让人亲切，但华裔不是中国人。把红色棕熊比喻成青春期对自己产生印象的各种情绪是形象的拟人方式。从始至终，都是妈妈让妹妹尴尬，一个是带着她去找Devon无地自容的恋爱幻想，第二个是带卫生巾去学校，然后妹妹逃回家在屋顶上跑着说自己要躲起来。最后让我感动的点就是妈妈也经历过美美经历的一切，想想就很心酸，但妈妈还是成为了外婆的样子。对于华裔女性的刻画我个人不是很喜欢，就很强势和完美主义。
年度最佳预定！！一口气到底酣畅淋漓！！！还是中国人懂中国人！！！每个中国典型家庭都有个控制欲超强的妈。不落俗套的剧本，笑点密集，善良温情的合家欢电影，不愧是你皮克斯。

各种设定真的好真实，简直就是在讲我本人（开玩笑）… 正片竟然没有Bye Bye Bye真是让人失望😂 但是竟然有Bootylicious… 准备再看一遍粤语配音版🐼🧡
2.人形=超我，需要把前两者封印在一个东西里，去照料它，没有也不行，人就失去了色彩，美美的角色比较理想化，是一个可以跟它和自我和平共处也实现超我的状态
在“蜘蛛侠”之后看这个，有一种神奇的感觉
很细腻地刻画出了华人世界里女性在成长时的隐痛，以及扭曲的母子关系。换成其他形式的亲子关系同样成立。母亲这个反派形象很有代表性，以爱为糖衣，包裹着沉重的期许与难以抵抗的控制。很惊喜的一点是，影片写出了小美因渴望惯性的认可而导致的内心幽暗，她不断推诿以求自保。而母亲的底线是，只要女儿听话懂事就会天下太平。听话才是真正的毒瘤，是压抑痛苦的根源，但长辈给它取了个新名字，叫成长。第三幕的场面、节奏以及主题的呈现都太棒了。
本片堪称一代和二代华裔移民家庭和解指南/谁又没从中看出一点自己童年的影子呢
追星girl好真实 overprotective control freak妈妈过于窒息了 怎么能这么不尊重小孩
Pixar中最现实的一部，轻松愉快的预告片直接把我吸引进来，但发现并不是个纯喜剧，对于亚裔两代的关系刻画的还是比较压抑且感同身受，还好是个合家欢的结局！
确实得指望女导演和女编剧。卡司里有吴珊卓。而且卡司很对应人物。四个女孩太好玩了，哈哈。谁不喜欢毛茸茸呢，朋友星星眼和大力那里哈哈哈。女孩穿裙子穿长裤好评，公交车前门侧面好评（想起很久以前听过的公交前门后方盲区上下学时段拥挤事故的新闻），毛的质感，尤其母女两人鼻子那里。配乐竟然也不错，片尾歌一下子就忆起以前听后街和西城的感觉了。女孩学霸，东亚家庭文化，母女，和自己和解，女性主义和女性力量，她的红熊猫（一定要留下自己的红熊猫，对女孩来讲很重要）。除了女性主角都是直的这点（哈哈，太直了，男美人鱼那里，噗）笑点也很可爱，红熊猫周边也很适合出。配乐竟然也很不错。很喜欢背景，场景，片尾的调色。这部的故事内容其实很适合走院线的，流媒体确实有些可惜了。有时怪物不是怪物，是力量，对女性尤其如此
好喜欢小女孩的性格 妥妥的社交牛逼症
影片的立意很不错啊，把女性成长与变成红熊猫进行并置，充满了想象力的比喻。画面呈现的效果也很不错，红熊猫看起来好可爱啊。结局设置的即符合当下美国主流社会舆论，又不至于让人非常尴尬。片中呈现的中国文化有点异化，不过也这正是华裔所接受的中国文化，合情合理，就像这边的中餐一样。
